Research and projects
Virtual Centre for Health Informatics contributes to the research and understanding of the interrelationship between health problems, the organisation of the health system and information technology.
The basic research fields within the network are:

Through the anchoring of the Virtual Centre for Health Informatics at Aalborg
University and the wide range of competences of our network-partners, we provide
an interdisciplinary understanding of health informatics.
Virtual Centre for Health Informatics participates in national and
international health scientific projects within our research and competence
fields.
Education
Aalborg University and the Virtual Centre for Health Informatics offer a
master’s degree in Health Informatics attended by more than 80 midcareer
students a year, coming from Denmark and Norway. Aalborg University and Virtual
Centre for Health Informatics aim to create a positive synergy between research,
clinic, and industry to the benefit of the educational programme.
Conferences and workshops
Virtual Centre for Health Informatics organizes conferences, workshops, and seminars on current topics of health informatics.
Publications and newsletters
The research accomplished by the Virtual Centre for Health Informatics is for
the main part published in scientific publications. Furthermore, the centre
publishes three newsletters a year distributed to more than 2,500 Danish
recipients interested in health informatics.
Network cooperation and partners
Virtual Centre for Health Informatics is a formal network co-operation between
innovation and research groups at Danish universities, public and private
companies, health care institutions, hospitals, and regional and governmental
authorities. Furthermore, the centre is participating in a number of networks
and is among others the organizer of an industrial network, the
CHI-Leverandoerforum, bringing together nine leading companies working with
health informatics.
The Virtual Centre for Health Informatics is governed by a board with
representatives from the abovementioned organisations and is managed by a
director and a secretariat situated at Aalborg University.
